MEDİA chief warns about risks of uncontrolled social media use by children

Uncontrolled use of social media by children may lead to various problems in the future, Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency (MEDİA), said during a public discussion on amendments to the Code of Administrative Offences, as well as the laws "On Information, Informatization and Information Protection" and "On Protection of Children from Harmful Information."

Report quotes him as saying in developed countries various legislative measures are being adopted to restrict children's use of social networks.

Ismayilov noted that the draft laws prepared in Azerbaijan cover several key aspects.

"This draft law is aimed at forming a healthier and safer environment to protect our children from the negative impact of the digital world. The proposed amendments fully comply with universal ethical norms, national interests, and advanced international legal standards. We believe that this step will make an important contribution to improving the national information environment and protecting future generations," he said.

The head of the agency also stressed that state bodies should pay serious attention to the preparation and implementation of this draft law.
