Sahil Babayev: Azerbaijan strengthening its strategic role as transport hub

Azerbaijan plays a key role in ensuring energy security for the region, Europe, and its partners, while also strengthening its strategic role as a transport hub, Finance Minister Sahil Babayev said at a business forum held during the 28th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB), Report informs.

"Today, the global economy is undergoing a significant period of transformation. Geopolitical complexities are creating new challenges for business. Azerbaijan has become an important energy factor globally and plays a key role in ensuring energy security for the region, Europe, and its partners. But we must not limit ourselves to developing the energy sector alone," Babayev noted.

The minister added that Azerbaijan is actively investing in roads, railways, air and sea transport.

"Against the backdrop of geopolitical challenges, the role of the Middle Corridor is growing. This route passes through Azerbaijan, connects Asia with Europe, the Caspian Sea with the Black Sea, and creates alternative transport routes," he said.

Babayev emphasized that Azerbaijan serves as a strategic bridge in terms of transport infrastructure, and the development of these areas will contribute to the expansion of future opportunities.
