Iranian wrestler Mehdi Al Husseini, 30, has been executed by hanging, Report informs, referring to Bloodyelbow.
The athlete was charged with killing a man during a mass brawl in 2015.
Though Iranian Greco-Roman wrestling Olympic, six-time world and two-time Asian champion Hamid Sourian Reihanpour asked the family of the deceased to pardon Husseini, his request was declined, and the verdict was carried out.
In September 2020, another wrestler, Navid Afkari, was executed in Iran after being charged with murder. However, human rights activists say Afkari was sentenced to death due to his participation in the 2018 summer protests.
