France is actively collaborating with UN-Habitat in advancing the goals of the European Open Agenda, focusing on affordable housing and developing various forms of cooperation, French Ambassador to Azerbaijan Sophie Lagoutte said at a ministerial roundtable during the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, according to Report.
She stated that France supports the working group on affordable housing and is funding the UN-Habitat knowledge platform, which aims to implement practical solutions in partner countries. Furthermore, Paris is allocating €250,000 to support the organization's office in the French capital.
Sophie Lagoutte noted that by the end of the year, the Paris office will become a platform for promoting French and European experience, as well as a forum for interaction between researchers and practitioners in the field of sustainable development.
She also noted that since 2019, France has allocated €3.1 billion to sustainable development projects, including urban and housing construction. Of this amount, approximately €400 million was allocated to projects in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and the Asia-Pacific region to restore vulnerable areas and reconstruct affected territories.
