Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan agree to expand inter-parliamentary cooperation

The Head of the Secretariat of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Kudrat Nurullaev, and a delegation led by the Head of the Secretariat of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, Farid Hajiyev, have agreed to expand inter-parliamentary cooperation, the Senate of Uzbekistan said, as quoted by Report.

"During the discussions, it was noted that Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations are based on strong historical ties, as well as shared cultural and spiritual values. Thanks to the political will of the heads of state, inter-parliamentary cooperation between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan has reached a new level," the statement said.

The parties emphasized the holding of the first Uzbek-Azerbaijani Inter-Parliamentary Forum in Khiva and the signing of a "roadmap" for inter-parliamentary cooperation for 2025–2026.

The discussions focused on strengthening interaction between the parliamentary secretariats of the two countries. Key areas included the exchange of experience in lawmaking, conducting parliamentary reviews, information and analytical work, the use of international rankings, and the implementation of digital solutions.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to further develop inter-parliamentary ties, establish a permanent constructive dialogue, and promote practical cooperation between the parliamentary secretariats of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
