Azerbaijan increases revenues from polypropylene exports by over 46%

In January-August 2021, Azerbaijan exported 56,900 tons of primary polypropylene worth $75.9 million, respectively, down 11.6% and up 46.5% from the previous year, Report informs, citing the State Customs Committee.
Over the past eight months of 2021, the share of polypropylene was 4.79% in non-oil exports and 0.59 percent in the country's total exports.
The SOCAR Polymer project includes polypropylene plants with an annual capacity of 184,000 tons and high-density polyethylene plants with a yearly capacity of 120,000 tons. The polypropylene plant was commissioned on July 18, 2018, with the participation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Italian President Sergio Mattarella. Export of polypropylene started on October 5.
