Azerbaijan increases gasoline production by 41%

In January 2022, Azerbaijan produced petroleum products worth 303.1 million manats, 28.3% more than a year ago, Report informs, referring to the State Statistical Committee.
During the reporting period, 121,400 tons (+40.8%) of gasoline, 187,800 tons of diesel fuel (-0.8%), 3,500 tons of lubricating oil (+20.7%), 15,900 tons of petroleum bitumen (+2.8 times) were produced.
In the reporting period, the country produced 33,800 tons (-13.6%) of gasoline for the petrochemical industry, 50,100 tons of kerosene (+67.6%), 33,000 tons of fuel oil (+18.3%), and 17,000 tons of petroleum coke (-18.3%).
As the only oil refinery in the region, the Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery of SOCAR provides Azerbaijan with fuels such as RON-92, diesel, and jet fuel, but also supplies SOCAR's petrochemical plants in Azerbaijan with raw materials. Some of the plant's products are exported. Modernization and reconstruction work aimed at increasing the production capacity of the refinery, providing the country with high-quality fuel in accordance with Euro-5 standards, stable supply of Azerikimya PU, and increasing the export potential of oil products are important for Azerbaijan's industry.
The modernization and reconstruction project of the refinery is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2023. According to the project, it is planned to produce Euro-5 diesel fuel in mid-2022 and Euro-5 gasoline in mid-2023.
