Iran lifts ban on foreign messengers in state institutions

Iranian authorities have lifted a ban on the use of foreign messaging platforms by state institutions, Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said.

According to Report, Mohajerani made the remarks at a press conference.

"One of the decisions we have made over the past few days, which will help us take a stronger position in the information war, is the lifting of the ban on state institutions' usage of foreign messaging platforms," she said.

Mohajerani stressed that this did not mean official correspondence in state institutions would be conducted through foreign messengers, noting that some documents had previously been leaked through such platforms.

She said the main purpose of the move was to enable a rapid response to emerging doubts and false information, as well as to effectively counter psychological operations and information warfare against Iran.
