Azerbaijan gas exports to Turkey dwindle in 2021

In September 2021, Azerbaijan exported 737.99 million cubic meters of natural gas to Turkey, Report informs, citing the Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK).
According to EPDK, this figure is 2.02% less than in September 2020.
Thus, Azerbaijan became Turkey's third-largest natural gas supplier in September. The total volume of Azerbaijani natural gas exports to Turkey is equal to 17.24% of the country's gas imports.
In September 2021, Turkey imported over 4.281 billion cubic meters of natural gas, 15% more than in the same month of 2020.
In January-September 2021, Azerbaijan exported over 6.703 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Turkey, which is 19.02% less than in the first three quarters of last year.
In September, Russia became the leader in gas exports to Turkey, having exported just over 2 billion cubic meters, 7.88% more than in September 2020.
Iran ranked second with 888.34 million cubic meters of gas exports to Turkey in September, which is 72.53% more than in September 2020.
Azerbaijan transports natural gas from its Shah Deniz field to Turkey. Natural gas volumes are delivered to the Turkish market via the South Caucasus Pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum) and the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP). The first gas via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline entered the Turkish market in 2007. The transportation of commercial gas to Turkey via TANAP began on June 30, 2018.
