Global Islamic Economists Program launched in Baku

The Islamic Development Bank, in cooperation with INCEIF University and in strategic partnership with Bank Negara Malaysia, has launched the Global Islamic Economists Program (GIEP) on the sidelines of the IsDB Group Annual Meetings in Baku. The program is aimed at developing future leaders in the field of development.

According to IsDB, cited by Report, GIEP is an innovative initiative focused on strengthening human capital and leadership capabilities, with the goal of creating a leading international platform for nurturing highly qualified professionals.

The program seeks to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical policymaking in Islamic economics and finance, helping professionals address current global economic challenges.

The first pilot cohort will consist of 20 mid-level professionals from ASEAN countries. This inaugural group will undergo comprehensive training based on four key pillars: global thought leadership, executive education, expert mentoring, and applied policy research.

The IsDB Group Annual Meetings are being held in Azerbaijan's capital from June 16 to 19 under the theme "Regional Integration for Sustainable Prosperity."

The forum has brought together government officials, development experts, and financial sector leaders from the 57 member countries of the IsDB, as well as representatives from other states.

Azerbaijan is hosting the IsDB Group's flagship event for the second time, 16 years after first organizing the forum in 2010.
