September 27 - Remembrance Day event held in Luxembourg

An event dedicated to September 27 - Remembrance Day, was held in Luxembourg under the organization of the Azerbaijan-Luxembourg Friendship Association LuxAz.

According to Report's European bureau, the event began with a minute of silence in memory of those who lost their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.

LuxAz Vice President Sevinj Omarli highlighted the importance of preserving the memory of those who died and passing historical memory on to future generations. Ilkin Samadov, the association's vice president for youth and sports, emphasized the significance of Remembrance Day for the Azerbaijani people.

Emin Rustamov, First Secretary of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Belgium and Luxembourg, said that September 27, 2020 marked the beginning of the 44-day war. He said that under the leadership of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan's Armed Forces regained control of territories that had been under Armenian occupation for 30 years.

He also noted that following the September 2023 operation, Azerbaijan restored full control over its territory and secured the country's sovereignty.

The diplomat said Azerbaijan's victory led to the restoration of historical justice and created opportunities to strengthen peace and stability, build mutual trust and promote peaceful cooperation in the region.

Fakhraddin Alasgarov, a participant in the First Karabakh War and father of 44-day war veteran Jalal Alasgarov, thanked the organizers for honoring the memory of those who died and veterans and stressed the importance of holding such events.

The event concluded with a screening of the documentary film 'Biz', dedicated to the 44-day Patriotic War.
