Jeyhun Bayramov highlights Azerbaijan's growing clean energy capacity

Azerbaijan is increasing its renewable energy capacity by commissioning large-scale solar and wind projects, expanding hydropower potential and implementing clean energy projects with international partners, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said.

According to Report, he made the remarks on September 9 at the high-level opening ceremony of the Fourth Climate Week (CW4) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Baku.

Bayramov said Azerbaijan is determined to demonstrate that traditional energy producers can become leaders in a green and sustainable future.

"All these areas are firmly rooted in the long-term strategic vision of President Ilham Aliyev," he said.

The minister recalled that historic decisions on climate finance, carbon markets and other areas of the Paris Agreement were adopted at COP29 in Baku.

He said those decisions are aimed at accelerating climate action and supporting countries that want to meet their commitments but lack sufficient resources to do so.

Bayramov also noted that Azerbaijan has submitted its third Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), aligned with the outcomes of the Global Stocktake.
