UK becomes main destination for Azerbaijan's gold exports

In January–July 2026, Azerbaijan exported 24,517.2 kilograms of gold (including gold in semi‑processed forms such as bars, wire, profiles, sheets thicker than 0.15 mm, strips, and other unprocessed forms not used for coinage) worth $3.707 billion.

According to Report, citing the country's State Statistical Committee, this figure is 20.8 times higher in value and 8.5 times greater in volume compared to the same period of 2025.

The United Kingdom emerged as the primary destination, importing 21,902 kilograms of gold worth just over $3.468 billion, marking the first such supply in 16 years. Switzerland received 2,615 kilograms worth nearly $239.4 million, which is 34 percent more in value but 9.7 percent less in volume compared to last year.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan imported 136.51 kilograms of gold worth just over $21.2 million, a sharp decline of 99.4 percent in value and 99.6 percent in volume. Imports came mainly from Türkiye (82.43 kilograms worth just over $13.7 million), Switzerland (54 kilograms worth just over $7.4 million), and the UAE (0.1 kilograms worth $80,000).

In 2025, Azerbaijan exported gold only to Switzerland, delivering 4,522 kilograms worth $326.2 million, which represented increases of 54 percent in value and 6 percent in volume compared to the previous year.
