Turkey's exports to neighboring countries soars by over 34%

From January through September 2021, Turkey's exports to neighboring countries (Bulgaria, Iran, Iraq, Georgia, Syria, and Greece) increased by 34.4% compared to the same period last year and reached $14.5 billion, Report informs, citing Anadolu Agency.
In September alone, Turkey's total exports increased by 30% year-on-year to $20.8 billion, exceeding $20 billion a month for the first time in the country's history.
In the first nine months of 2021, Turkey's exports increased by 36% compared to the same period last year to $161 billion.
During the reporting period, Turkey's exports to Iraq amounted to $6.156 billion, Bulgaria $2.542 billion, Greece $2.009 billion, Iran $1.651 billion, Georgia $1.083 billion, and Syria $1.066 billion.
Turkey mainly exported chemicals ($2.432 billion) to neighboring countries in the first nine months. The chemicals are followed by grains, beans, oilseeds, and similar products worth $1.839 billion, while the steel exports reached $1.253 billion.
Turkey has eight neighbors in terms of land borders - Iran, Greece, Iraq, Georgia, Greece, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan (Nakhchivan), and Armenia. As there is no separate data on Nakhchivan, it is not included in the ranking, and there is no direct trade between Turkey and Armenia.
