Azerbaijan aims to build a more productive and competitive agricultural system

The main goal in agriculture is to establish a more productive and competitive system, Azerbaijan's Agriculture Minister Majnun Mammadov said.

According to Report, he made the remarks during a panel discussion titled "State Support Mechanisms in Agriculture," held as part of the 100th Jubilee Agricultural Business Festival in Aghdam.

Mammadov said the key objective facing agriculture today is not only to increase production volumes, but also to develop a more productive, efficient, technologically advanced and competitive agricultural system.

He noted that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, consistent measures are being implemented to develop the agricultural sector in line with modern challenges, introduce advanced technologies, strengthen competitive production and further enhance food security.

According to the minister, the State Program on the Development of Production and Processing of Agricultural, Fishery and Aquaculture Products for 2026-2030, approved on May 25, 2026, identifies sustainable development of the agricultural sector and an accelerated transition to an intensive and competitive production model as key priorities.

Mammadov stressed that the use of modern technologies in agriculture is essential to achieving these objectives.

He also highlighted the expansion of agricultural processing and export opportunities as major priorities.

"Agricultural development should not be limited to production. Expanding export opportunities through proper organization of product storage, logistics, processing, packaging and the value chain is one of our main objectives," the minister said.

Mammadov added that the participation of major agricultural and industrial companies in the festival demonstrates the broad cooperation opportunities created by the event.

He said the government would continue working to expand farmers' access to modern technologies, quality seeds and innovative solutions while increasing the efficiency and competitiveness of agricultural production.

According to the minister, stronger cooperation between the government, farmers, businesses, academia and technology will make an important contribution to the development of Azerbaijan's agricultural sector.
