Omuraliev praises Baku meeting of Turkic states' religious boards

The current format of meetings of religious leaders of Turkic states carries great importance, Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary‑General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), told journalists following the 7th Meeting of Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Boards of the OTS in Baku, Report informs.

He stressed that such meetings are vital for discussing both religious and social issues within the OTS framework:

"Our agenda today includes several key topics. One is science and knowledge, particularly the importance of education in Islam. Another is the family institution – protecting families and passing family values to future generations is crucial for all societies.

We also focus on rapid digital changes and the impact of new technologies on our lives. We must approach these processes from the perspective of Islamic values and principles, and jointly discuss the opportunities and challenges modern technologies bring. Strengthening cooperation among religious institutions and coordinating the work of fatwa committees are important steps."

Omuraliev highlighted the active participation of Azerbaijan's religious leaders, muftis, and representatives of religious institutions in this process, noting that President Ilham Aliyev's letter to the leaders and participants demonstrated strong support for cooperation.

The Secretary‑General concluded that expanding collaboration among religious educational institutions and organizations within the OTS can contribute to knowledge exchange, the development of modern religious education, the preservation of common values, and the proper guidance of younger generations.
