Ukraine reduces deputy PM posts, expands number of ministers

Ukraine's new Cabinet will have three deputy prime ministers instead of four, while the number of ministers has increased from 15 to 17 following the restructuring of several government bodies, Ukrainian media reported.

The government headed by Yuliia Svyrydenko consisted of four deputy prime ministers, including one first deputy prime minister, and 12 ministers, two of whom were serving in an acting capacity, overseeing 15 ministries. Including the prime minister, the Cabinet had 17 members.

On July 16, the Verkhovna Rada approved the new government proposed by Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyy under a revised structure.

The new Cabinet will include three deputy prime ministers, including one first deputy prime minister, and 15 ministers responsible for 17 ministries. Once the ministers of defense and foreign affairs are appointed, the Cabinet will consist of 19 members, including the prime minister.

The increase in the number of ministries follows the division of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture into two separate bodies: the Ministry of Economy and Environment and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.
