The Government of Ukraine has allocated 40 billion hryvnias (more than $1 billion) for the production of domestic drones, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said, Report informs via Ukrainian media.
“War poses new challenges every day. One of the key ones is military technology. We must be one step ahead of the enemy and take care of each of our soldiers. Drones provide such opportunities,” Shmyhal wrote on social media.
The prime minister recalled that a year ago, through UNITED24 (a global initiative in support of Ukraine, launched on May 5, 2022 by the Ukrainian authorities), more than 4 billion hryvnias were collected, which were directed to the production of UAVs.
"By that time, there were less than a dozen of them. Today, there are more than 40 companies that have contracts with the state, and the production of UAVs has grown tenfold," Shmyhal said.
He said that customs barriers for the import of spare parts and kits have also been eliminated.
“We raised the profit share of UAV manufacturers by 25%, and also made a decision that promotes the mass production of ammunition for drones,” he stressed.
