Northern Cyprus declares three‑day national mourning after shipwreck

Northern Cyprus has declared a three‑day national mourning following the passenger ship accident on the Girne–Taşucu route, which resulted in loss of life near the Girne coast.

According to Report, citing Haber Global, Prime Minister Unal Ustel announced that as part of the investigation into the sinking, the ship's captain and seven crew members have been detained.

The accident off the coast of Girne claimed the lives of eight people, while 237 passengers were rescued, including two Azerbaijani citizens.
