Mojtaba Khamenei orders pardon for 2,577 prisoners

Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has approved a request for the pardon, commutation, or reduction of sentences for 2,577 convicts.
According to Report, citing IRNA, the decision was made following an appeal by Judiciary Chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Eje'i on the occasion of the birth anniversaries of Prophet Muhammad and Imam Jafar al‑Sadiq.
In his letter, Mohseni-Eje'i asked the Supreme Leader to grant clemency to prisoners convicted by general and revolutionary courts, the Armed Forces Judicial Organization, and the State Criminal Organization.
Khamenei instructed the judiciary chief to proceed with the decision regarding the pardons and sentence reductions.
