ISIS suspect killed in counterterrorism operation in Istanbul

Turkish security forces have carried out an operation against a suspected ISIS member who was allegedly preparing to carry out a terrorist attack in Istanbul, the Istanbul provincial administration said, Report informs.

The operation was conducted in Istanbul's Sultanbeyli district by the Counterterrorism Branch Directorate in cooperation with other security agencies.

The operation targeted Berkan C., who was identified as an ISIS member allegedly preparing to carry out a terrorist attack in Türkiye.

During the operation, the suspect was neutralized in an exchange of fire with security forces. One civilian was injured in the shooting.

The provincial administration said an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
