Georgian PM hopeful about restoring strategic partnership with US

The Georgian government remains optimistic that its strategic partnership with the United States will be restored, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.

The prime minister said that contacts with the US side are ongoing and that Tbilisi hopes for reciprocal steps.

"We remain optimistic that the strategic partnership will be restored between Georgia and the U.S. We have communication with American partners. We hope to see responsive steps; this is our goal, and we look forward to it," Kobakhidze said.

He also claimed that the opposition, which opposes initiatives aimed at protecting the reputation of public figures and historical personalities, is acting on instructions from abroad.

"The so-called opposition is in fact a force controlled from a single center and serves the common goal of weakening our national identity. These people are not an opposition; they are part of the same collective force. They have common interests and follow common instructions from their shared patrons. Those instructions are aimed at undermining our national identity," he said.
