Georgia, Kazakhstan discuss increasing freight traffic along Middle Corridor

Georgia and Kazakhstan have discussed ways to increase freight traffic along the Middle Corridor, Report's Georgian bureau informs.

Georgian Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Tamar Ioseliani met with Yerlan Koishybayev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, and Aybek Kapar, acting CEO of KTZ Express.

The sides reviewed the current state of cooperation between the two countries' railway sectors and opportunities to deepen ties further.

Officials noted positive momentum in increasing cargo turnover along the Middle Corridor and also discussed ongoing and planned infrastructure projects in Georgia, including the Anaklia Deep Sea Port project.

The meeting was also attended by Georgian Railway CEO Lasha Abashidze, Anaklia Sea Port Director Zurab Sichinava, and Merab Kadjaia, Deputy Head of the Transport and Logistics Development Policy Department at Georgia's Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.
