Armenia says TRIPP is infrastructure project, not military base

The Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) is an infrastructure project rather than a territory or military base, and it does not envisage the presence of security forces from any other country, Armenian lawmaker Sarkis Khandanyan said, Report informs, citing Armenian media.

Khandanyan made the remarks while discussing his candidacy for chairman of the Armenian parliament's Standing Committee on Foreign Relations.

"TRIPP is an infrastructure project. In general, there will be no security forces of any other country within TRIPP. As stated in the agreement, ensuring security has been entrusted to Armenia and the relevant authorities of the country," he said.

Khandanyan also addressed the process of opening regional communications, saying that it has already begun.

"Armenia has already been using Azerbaijani railways for several months, and the ban on using the Akhalkalaki-Kars railway has also been lifted. These are also details of the unblocking process," he said.
