The public appearances and statements of Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei are not being released due to security concerns, and his whereabouts are also being kept secret, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in an interview with Al Jazeera, Report informs.
Araghchi said that Mojtaba Khamenei was actively involved in leadership and exercised full authority, adding that all matters were presented to him and his decisions were communicated to officials. He stressed that there was no weakness in this regard and explained that the absence of public footage or statements from Khamenei was primarily due to security concerns.
Araghchi noted that Iran was facing enemies seeking to attack the country, recalling that during the previous two wars, Iranian officials had been killed, including the country's former Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
According to him, Mojtaba Khamenei's whereabouts are being kept secret because the US and Israeli militaries targeted the homes of several Iranian officials during the war.
"In any case, this is a decision taken to protect his security, and in my opinion, it has not created any problems in the management of affairs," he added.
The minister acknowledged that he had not met with Mojtaba Khamenei but noted that President Masoud Pezeshkian, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and other officials had met with the country's Supreme Leader.
