Vessel traffic through Panama Canal down due to drought

From October 2022 to September 2023, the number of ships passing through the Panama Canal decreased by 3.6% year-on-year to 11,663.
Referring to the information of the Panama Canal Authority, Report informs that the dry weather and lack of rain in recent months caused the canal's water level to drop to 13.41 meters.
The average number of daily crossings has dropped from 38 to 36, and even 32 on some days.
In 2023, 12,527 ships will pass through the Panama Canal, and by 2024, this number is expected to decrease further.
