Poland's expenditures on arms procurement and defense capability have reached nearly 7% of GDP, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced following the E5 summit (UK, Germany, Italy, Poland, and France) held in Berlin, Report informs.
"Currently, we are spending about 7% of GDP on armaments and defense needs," Tusk stated during a press conference shared on social media.
He expressed hope that the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara would serve as another platform to strengthen Europe's defense capabilities.
At the NATO summit in The Hague in June 2025, alliance leaders – following Washington's initiative – agreed to raise defense spending to 5% of GDP by 2035.
