Türkiye sends rescue team, humanitarian aid to Venezuela

A humanitarian aid and rescue team sent by Türkiye to Venezuela to help deal with the aftermath of a strong earthquake has arrived in the capital, Caracas.

Report informs, citing Anadolu Agency, that the group includes 45 rescuers, four search-and-rescue dogs and two vehicles, as well as 20 military personnel.

Earlier, the United States, Mexico and Germany also sent humanitarian aid to Venezuela.

A 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck northern Venezuela on the night of June 25. The US Geological Survey later said two more tremors with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 were recorded 40 seconds apart. The country's leadership declared a state of emergency.

A total of 214 aftershocks were recorded after the main tremors. According to the latest data, more than 1,400 people have died and over 3,200 others have been injured to varying degrees as a result of the natural disaster in Venezuela.
