Senate approves new head of US Treasury

The US Senate has approved Janet Yellen as secretary of the Treasury Department, Report informs, referring to CNBC.
The voting on Yellen’s candidacy was broadcast live on the Senate website.
The 84-15 vote made Yellen the first female to lead the department.
Yellen is a well-known economist. In the past, she headed the US Federal Reserve System.
