Mount Semeru in Indonesia"s East Java province has shown renewed volcanic activity, with at least four eruptions recorded over the past 24 hours.
According to Report, citing Indonesia"s Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation, ash clouds rose as high as 1.2 km above the summit, reaching an altitude of 4,876 meters above sea level.
Local residents and tourists have been warned to stay at least 5 km away from the crater due to risks of ejected hot rocks, lava flows, pyroclastic clouds, and lahar (volcanic mudflow) formation along river channels.
