More than 30,000 employees of Mercedes-Benz took part in protests across Germany, demonstrating against the company's announced cost-cutting measures.
According to Report, citing the DPA news agency, around 33,000 people participated in the demonstrations, according to the labor union. The protests are said to be the beginning of what could become a broader nationwide campaign.
The workers' dissatisfaction stems from the austerity measures announced by Mercedes-Benz in June. At the time, the company said that about 90,000 of its approximately 108,000 employees would not receive their expected annual bonus in July, with the payment postponed until next year.
