Japan will hold elections today for the post of leader of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party.
According to Report, the elections will take place at the party's headquarters, and the winner will be the country's new prime minister.
The reason for holding the election is the resignation of PM S. Abe due to ill health. There are three candidates in the vote: Cabinet Secretary-General Yoshihide Suga, the head of the party's Political Council, former Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida, and former Defense Minister Shigeru Isiba.
Y. Suga is considered the favorite of the elections. According to experts, if he wins, Suga will continue the political path of Abe.
