Artificial intelligence (AI) does not replace specialists, but is becoming a tool that strengthens their work in managing urban systems.
Report informs that Jeffrey Tsang, a data scientist at Earthasia INSIGHT, said this at an event held as part of WUF13 in Baku.
He presented an approach to using AI in the management of urban green spaces, noting that technologies can significantly improve the efficiency of arborists and municipal services.
"Using artificial intelligence, photographs taken by specialists on the ground can be automatically analyzed to determine the condition of a tree, identify damage and assess risks," he said.
As a second area, he pointed to the digitalization of tree data and the automation of form processing: "The use of OCR and AI technologies makes it possible to convert fragmented information into structured digital data and generate unified reports for decision-making."
He identified the creation of integrated digital dashboards as the third element of the system. These dashboards display the condition of urban trees on a map, including risk levels, care recommendations and predictive models.
At the same time, he stressed that artificial intelligence is not a replacement for humans, but a support tool, while final decisions still remain with experts.
