Hackers demand 30 bitcoin from Berlin after cyberattack on government agencies

The Rhysida ransomware group is behind a major cyberattack on Berlin's state network and is demanding 30 bitcoin (around €2 million) from the authorities, threatening to publish the stolen data if they refuse to pay.

According to Spiegel, cited by Report, the ransom demand appeared on Rhysida's darknet page, where the group publishes information about its victims. The hackers claim to have stolen nearly 6 terabytes of data during the attack.

A countdown timer has also been launched on the page. As of Friday, it showed that Berlin had approximately one week left to pay the ransom.

According to the hackers, the stolen data may include information from nearly 80,000 administrative offense cases, more than 46,500 contracts, court documents, details on critical infrastructure facilities, emergency response plans, passwords and nearly 6,000 files containing login credentials.
