The German authorities have called on the Israeli government to resume humanitarian aid deliveries to the Gaza Strip and indicated that both sides in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict must return to the negotiating table, a representative of the German Foreign Ministry said at a briefing in Berlin, Report informs via TASS.
"The German government has received with great concern the decision of the Israeli government to stop the import of all humanitarian goods into Gaza," the representative of the German Foreign Ministry noted.
At the same time, he emphasized that, according to the decision of the International Court of Justice, "Israel must comply with its obligations under international law, ensuring the unimpeded provision of urgently needed basic services and the delivery of humanitarian aid throughout Gaza."
He also noted that the Palestinian Hamas movement "must finally put an end to the suffering and humiliation of the remaining hostages and their families" and immediately release the detainees.
The German Foreign Ministry called on both sides to return to the negotiating table and ensure the continuation of the ceasefire and hostage release agreement.
"This includes a possible extension of the first stage [of the agreement] and a transition to the second stage, that is, a long-term ceasefire. All this is necessary for the release of new hostages, an improvement in the situation of the people in Gaza, as well as for the reconstruction of Gaza and a peaceful future for the region," the German Foreign Ministry representative added.
