French Foreign Ministry: We don’t need US approval to act on Iran

France "requires no authorization" to try and calm tensions with Iran, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said Friday in a clear response to a tweet by a U.S. President Donald Trump.

Report informs citing the Kommersant.

On Thursday, Trump accused French President Emmanuel Macron of giving Iran "mixed signals" and "purporting to represent" the U.S.

“On Iran, France speaks with complete sovereignty. It is working hard for peace and security in the region, it is working to facilitate a de-escalation in tensions and it needs no permission to do so,” Foreign Minister said in a statement.
