Russian hacker group claims responsibility for cyberattack targeting Norway – UPDATED

The Russian hacker group Server Killers has claimed responsibility for a cyberattack against Norway.

According to the Norwegian broadcaster NRK, cited by Report, Server Killers announced its responsibility for the attack on social media.

The group said it had declared "cyberwar" on Norway, citing as the reason the defense and security cooperation agreement signed between Norway and Ukraine on Sunday.

Norway's Digitalisation Agency said today that the attack was still ongoing, but that most services had largely resumed operations.

The Norwegian Digitalisation Agency is being subjected to an ongoing multi-day cyberattack described as the largest in recent months, Report informs, citing the NRK TV channel referencing Agency spokesperson Are Kvistad.

"As of Wednesday morning, the situation is as follows: the attack is still ongoing, but the solutions are working and functioning stably," Kvistad noted. "However, we continue to work on resolving the consequences."

This marks the third and most powerful attack targeting the Agency over the past nine weeks.

The cyberattack began on the night of August 24.

As a result, users have experienced access issues with dozens of public services, including ID-porten, MinID, Altinn, and E-innsyn.
