China to vaccinate 80% of population by late 2021

Chinese epidemiologist Zhong Nanshan believes that 80% of the population will be vaccinated against coronavirus in the PRC by the end of 2021, Report informs referring to the information portal Zhongguo Xinwenwang.

“As far as I know, by early July, vaccination coverage in China should be 40%, and by the end of this year, it may reach 80%,” said the expert. As he clarified, to achieve such an indicator, the PRC must continue to increase vaccine production.

“On the one hand, we have a high domestic demand for these drugs. On the other hand, the World Health Organization urgently needs them,” Zhong Nanshan noted.

He stressed that with an 80% vaccination rate China will achieve herd immunity.

As of May 27, more than 584 million COVID jabs have been administered in China.
