British variant of coronavirus detected in Bolivia

Infections with the British strain of the coronavirus have been reported in at least two departments in Bolivia, according to the Ministry of Health of the republic, Report informs referring to TASS.
"According to the results of samples, it is clearly established that the British variant (of the coronavirus) is spreading in Bolivia," the ministry said in a statement.
The British strain of coronavirus may be 70 percent more infectious. This was first reported to the public on December 19 last year, amid rising incidence in the UK. This mutation, according to WHO, was detected in the south-east of England in September, and to date, cases of infection with this variant have been reported in dozens of countries.
