Ankara deputy governor highlights Turkic tourism cooperation

Ankara's declaration as the 2026 Tourism Capital of the Turkic World further expands cooperation among Turkic states in tourism, culture, education and humanitarian fields, Ankara Deputy Governor Huseyin Cam told Report's Türkiye bureau.

Cam said the status is important not only for Türkiye, but for the Turkic world as a whole.

According to him, projects, international events and joint initiatives implemented within this framework serve to strengthen ties between cities and promote shared values more widely.

"Initiatives to preserve and internationally promote the shared cultural heritage of the Turkic world are being continued consistently. In this regard, Shusha's declaration as the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World in previous years was an important stage in promoting common historical and cultural heritage," he said.

Cam noted that Ankara"s declaration as the 2026 Tourism Capital of the Turkic World also creates new opportunities for developing tourism cooperation among Turkic states, increasing mutual visits, implementing joint projects and further strengthening ties between peoples.

"Thus, Shusha's status as the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World and Ankara's status as the Tourism Capital of the Turkic World are important complementary initiatives that serve to promote our shared history, culture and fraternal ties more widely at the international level," the deputy governor said.
