Bahar Muradova: Parents need to be taught digital literacy

Parents in Azerbaijan need to be actively involved in digital literacy programs, Bahar Muradova, chair of the State Committee for Family, Women, and Children Affairs, said during parliamentary discussions of a package of amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses, as well as to the laws "On Information, Informatization, and Information Protection" and "On the Protection of Children from Harmful Information," Report informs.

According to her, the bills under consideration make the issue of protecting the younger generation and children in the virtual space extremely pressing.

"In addition to the relevant agencies, parents must also be involved in this process-they need to be taught digital literacy," the head of the state committee emphasized.

Muradova also noted that age restrictions for children on social media are now becoming fully-fledged legal norms.

"This is not just a technical regulation. It is a necessary response to the challenges of children's safety in the digital environment," Muradova concluded.
