WUF13 to serve as platform for signing important cooperation memorandums — UN-Habitat official

During the 13th session of the World Urban Forum 13, a number of memorandums and agreements are expected to be signed, Raf Tuts, Director of the Global Solutions Division of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), said in comments made during the ongoing forum in Baku.

Report quotes him as saying the forum serves as an important platform for strengthening international partnerships and deepening cooperation.

"The signing of memorandums on the sidelines of World Urban Forum 13 creates new prospects for joint work in the field of sustainable urban development and addressing housing challenges on a global scale. Memorandums of understanding will be signed with a number of international and national organizations. For example, a memorandum of understanding will be concluded between UN-Habitat and the Housing and Urban Development Corporation of India to strengthen cooperation between the two organizations," he said.

He also noted that another memorandum will be signed with several partners attending the forum, including the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

"These are important partners who have come to Baku and are using this opportunity to sign memorandums of understanding. Thus, WUF13 is becoming not just a discussion platform, but also a catalyst for concrete agreements that can impact the quality of life of millions of urban residents worldwide," Tuts added.
