UN-Habitat official: WUF13 went beyond discussions

The 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) was not limited to discussions, Jonathan Oriki Some, a member of the UN-Habitat Youth Advisory Board, said during the closing ceremony of WUF13 in Baku, Report informs.

According to him, the forum provided practical pathways and clear mechanisms to drive the transformative changes the world needs:

"We learned once again that ambitions alone cannot build homes, cities, or futures. Today, one in four urban children grows up in informal settlements. Millions of young people's dreams and futures are undermined by poor living conditions in cities. Throughout the forum, including the Children and Youth Assembly and roundtable discussions, young people defined housing as a gateway to dignity, security, and belonging. Housing must be linked to education, healthcare, safety, and opportunities for youth."
