Jahangirov: Architectural style of East Zangazur cities match landscape

The school building constructed in Zangilan has a very unique design, Ramil Jahangirov, representative of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of Azerbaijan, said during an event at the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Report informs.

Jahangirov noted that the first residential neighborhood in Zangilan has recently welcomed its residents: "Even in Baku, we do not have such an interesting school design. We paid special attention to three cities of East Zangazur – Zangilan, Gubadli, and Kalbajar. If you study the style of these cities, you will see that they differ from each other. Yet in all cases, their styles match the identity of the cities. In Soviet times, such an architectural style did not exist there, but today we can see how well it fits the city's character, the surrounding mountains, and the landscape."

He added that the school in Kalbajar also has remarkable architecture: "These examples show that beyond proper planning, we also prioritize the style, appearance, and atmosphere of the cities. Ultimately, the beneficiaries of these projects are people who were forcibly displaced from their homeland decades ago and are now returning."
