International Baku Urban Award established

The Government of Azerbaijan and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) have established the new international Baku Urban Award.

The Baku Urban Award aims to promote sustainable urban development and affordable housing. The initiative was presented as part of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.

The award is designed as a global platform to promote practical solutions and introduce scientific approaches into urban planning policy. Projects will be assessed by an independent international jury. The initiative will become one of the key long-term outcomes of WUF13.

The establishment of the Baku Urban Award reflects Azerbaijan's long-term work with UN-Habitat, including the hosting of WUF13 and COP29, as well as the development of international initiatives in urban development.
