Filip Endal: Czech technologies in water management could be in demand in Azerbaijan — EXCLUSIVE

Czechia sees significant potential for partnership with Azerbaijan in the field of water resource management, Deputy Minister of Regional Development of the Czech Republic Filip Endal said on the sidelines of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum 13, as quoted by Report.

According to Endal, ensuring energy resilience is currently a priority for Czechia, as the country has also faced electricity disruptions similar to those affecting other European states.

"So we face the need to stabilize the energy sector. We need to find, for example, battery systems to support local power grids. In this area, I believe there is potential for joint work. In addition, we have strong expertise in high-tech building solutions. We have excellent technologies in water management," the deputy minister said.

He believes that water management can become a priority issue for most cities worldwide.

"The issue is that, for example regarding precipitation - we are now also experiencing quite rainy periods, but they are short, and a significant portion of the water simply runs off. We need to retain it in the urban environment, use it for greenery, parks, and what is called ‘grey water", meaning sewage systems and similar uses. In other cities, the opposite problem exists - there is little or no rainfall. Therefore, such technologies could also be useful for water management in Azerbaijan," Endal stated.

Addressing the idea of a possible business mission of Czech developers and engineers to Azerbaijan to study infrastructure projects in the liberated territories, he described it as an excellent initiative.

"I will bring it to the attention of our ministry. I think it could be very useful. We have many companies operating in this sector. It is a very promising idea. I will discuss it with our ministry. I think organizing such a mission would be a great step," he added.
