Esther Ngugi: WUF13 an important platform for achieving the SDGs

The 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku is an important platform for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Esther Ngugi, a member of the Steering Committee of the Global Alliance of Partnership for Water Operators (GWOPA), told Report.

According to her, the sessions organized within the event are prepared at a high level: "I am enjoying my time in Azerbaijan. We met many stakeholders, and in my opinion, the sessions are very well organized. This is my first visit to Baku. People here are very friendly and helpful. Even with the language barrier, they try to help us using modern translation technologies."

She noted that within the SDGs, concrete solutions will be found, especially in the areas of clean water and sanitation (SDG 6) and sustainable cities (SDG 11): "These goals are closely connected, and they cannot be considered separately. With only four years left until 2030, we hope that real solutions will come out of the forum to achieve these goals."

Esther Ngugi added that Kenya still faces difficulties in water supply, and access to clean water in low-income areas remains an ongoing challenge. "To overcome such global challenges, joint international cooperation is extremely important. Because the main solution lies in the unity of peoples and partners."
