Emilia Saiz: Urban development needs leaders who can make decisions in challenging situations

Today, there is a need to increase the number of leaders capable of making decisions on urban development in complex environments, Emilia Saiz, Secretary General of the international organization United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), said at WUF13 in Baku, Report informs.

She emphasized the importance of going beyond individual leadership.

"In my professional experience, individual leadership is critical, but it must be supported by collective leadership. This collective leadership, in addition to the people who think about the work, lacks those who actually do it," she said.

Saiz noted that public service workers around the world are becoming an important part of this discussion.

"I believe this dialogue will strengthen the capacity of future leaders to make decisions in complex environments," she added.
