Eldar Azizov: Baku plans to create cable car, tram lines

New modes of transport, including cable car and tram lines, are planned to be introduced in Baku in the near future.

Report informs that Baku City Executive Authority Head Eldar Azizov said this at a roundtable titled "Strengthening Local Action: Reinforcing Multilevel Governance for Adequate Housing and Resilient Communities," held as part of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).

According to him, extensive work is currently underway to develop the public transport system in the capital.

Azizov noted that more than 140 kilometers of bus lanes and 80 kilometers of bicycle lanes have been created in Baku.

He said that, along with the expansion of metro infrastructure, new transport solutions are planned for the city.

"These projects will help increase urban mobility, reduce traffic congestion and improve the environmental situation," the Baku mayor stressed.
