Bulgaria developing strategies to combat energy poverty, housing affordability issues

Bulgaria continues to face significant challenges in the areas of energy poverty and affordable housing, Bulgarian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ruslan Stoyanov said at a ministerial roundtable during the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, according to Report.

"In response, we are developing long-term strategic approaches, including the National Building Renovation Plan for the period up to 2050 and the updated National Housing Strategy.

These documents place a key emphasis on supporting households affected by energy poverty, as well as expanding access to financial resources. Looking ahead to the next decade, we highlight a number of key priorities: accelerating the pace of building renovation using sustainable financial mechanisms; mainstreaming affordable housing as a core urban policy focus; strengthening the link between the housing sector and urban planning; and developing the capacity of local governments," the diplomat emphasized.
